Don't Give UP!
We have suffered a loss from our first engagement in a minor skirmish, but the war is far from lost. We took some hits and scored a few of our own. Ultimately, we left the field more vital than when we entered.
General Washington lost the first few engagements before winning a great victory. Ultimately, he and our country prevailed despite vastly superior odds and a doubting public. Now, it is our turn to support our leader and continue the fight. Many nay-sayers are opposition members afraid that President Biden will, like General Washington, rally the troops and become a stronger foe.
Democracy is an idea. It cannot be destroyed, but it can be replaced by demagogues and those who wish to be dictators. It is time for those of us who want to be free to rise up and overthrow the forces that would enslave us. Our enemies are many, and they are powerful, but they have a fatal flaw: their love of money and power will be their downfall.
It has been said many times, “There is no honor among thieves.” They have bought many of our elected officials and some only appointed officials. We can defeat many of these bootlickers at the ballot box, and we can demand that our elected officials act against those who are appointed. Many appointees have accepted gifts and outright cash payments; in return, they have voted and ruled in the favor of those who own them. If these actions are brought out into the light of day, their recipients can be exposed for what they are, and their power will significantly diminish.
This will not be easy, and it will take time to overcome our foes. We can prevail because the alternative is to dis-honor the founding fathers and all those who have fought and died for our liberty.
First, we must confront our biggest enemy - ourselves. It is easy to say all politicians are crooks; what’s the use? I am only one person; nothing ever changes, etc. My answer to those defeatists who say these things is to get up off your ass, turn off the TV, and accept the facts that all politicians are not corrupt and that many are working to make things fairer for all of us. Many of these honest politicians wear the colors of our opponents but have our best interests at heart. We need to accept and compromise with those who appear to be our opponents but, in reality, are only trying to do the will of their constituents. We do not represent absolute truth; we only represent one side of complex issues, and compromise will get us more than our refusal to see other points of view. We must see and understand our opponents if we have any chance of saving our country from the hands of those who enslave us.
The American patriot Patrick Henry supposedly said, “Either we all hang together, or surely we will hang separately.” These were wise words at our founding and wise words today.
